What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis or trance is the induction of a state of consciousness, resembling sleep only superficially and marked by a functioning of the individual at a level of awareness other than the ordinary conscious state. In this state, the person is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy utilised to create unconscious change in the patient in the form of new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours and/or feelings. It is undertaken with a subject in hypnosis.
A person who is hypnotised displays certain unusual characteristics and propensities, compared with a non-hypnotised subject, most notably heightened suggestibility and responsiveness.
What is like to be hypnotised?
Yes, anyone with an average IQ or above IQ can be hypnotised if they want to be. All hypnosis is self hypnosis and you probably go in and out trance all day. Ever driven somewhere and thought I don’t remember getting here? auto pilot? or been so engrossed in a movie or book you haven’t noticed anything around you? Both are states of trance.
Can I say or do something under hypnosis I don't want to?
No, your mind will not allow you to say or do anything under hypnosis that you would not do or say in your ordinary conscious state. You are fully aware so if anything is said to you that you don’t like to can just stand up and walk away.
Will things I say in private be kept confidential?
Absolutely! The hypnotherapist is bound by a similar Hippocratic Oath as doctors and as any other therapist and unless there are exceptional circumstances everything said will be kept within the confines of the therapy room.
Listening to the mp3 makes me feel tired.
Sometimes we have a physical reaction to emotional change. The physical reaction may last up to 3 days after listening to the mp3.
The most common reaction is feeling tired
We call this a shift, meaning you have just gone through a change,a ‘shift’ in your emotional state. Our minds and bodies are not two separate things, they affect each other in a positive and/or negative way. Sometimes as we go through these ‘shifts’ the body becomes tired from making the change and it needs some rest. Having a physical reaction to hypnosis is a good sign that what you are doing is working.
I’m falling asleep during my hypnosis mp3, is this something that should be happening?
Hypnosis sometimes feels like sleep, as your mind gets used to hypnosis it goes into a deeper state each time.
There is also a suggestion in the mp3 that you can drift of to a natural sleep or awaken on the count of 5, the choice is yours.
Therefore if you fall asleep your mind is choosing to do so, which is perfectly normal.
I am feeling more emotional after listening to the MP3
Sometimes we have a emotional reaction to emotional change, including heighten emotions. The emotional reaction may last up to 3 days after listening to the mp3.
Imagine we are like like an onion. As we go through the process of removing all the unwanted negative emotions we peel off a layer of the onion, sometimes there is stinky layer underneath that we have been hiding all this time. When our emotions are buried we cant do anything about them, by peeling off a layer each week it allows your mind and body to process emotions and release them.
The feeling won’t last, it won’t consume you, just rest, drink plenty of water and let the emotion flow in and out. If your sad be sad, allow yourself to feel the emotion. Process it, question it, analyse it then let it go it will pass.
How much weight will I lose?
Everyone is different and no one can guarantee weight loss and results will vary from person to person. The average weight loss is from 500gm to 1 kilo per week and In general, those who have a lot of habits and behaviors to change find a bigger difference than those who don’t have much to change.
You will also find that other areas of your life will improve when you change your lifestyle, like; happiness, confidence, relationships with others, well being and a new zest for life.
Why is this different from other weight loss?
